Did you notice at the bottom of Rodi Road the nice new landscaped green area welcoming drivers as they come off the parkway? Well now we’re looking at a nice new billboard with an oversized electronic screen high in the air to mess up the gateway to Penn Hills.

Don’t call Penn Hills council members to complain. The application sits with the manager at Churchill’s borough building awaiting a zoning hearing board decision. The proposed site for the billboard is technically in Churchill, a junk piece of property on the cliff to the east of Rodi right before you get to our welcoming green space.

The Penn Hills Shade Tree Commission, Penn Hills council, the West Penn Conservancy, and our own volunteers all did a great job. Let’s not let them down.

Ask the officials in Churchill to be neighborly and do the right thing. The Delco LLC application does not meet Churchill’s zoning ordinance so they are just asking for variances hoping people won’t notice or care.

Show them otherwise. Call, text, email or write Churchill officials and tell them to help their neighbors, take pride in their own ordinances, and send Delco on their way.
