PennDOT will be replacing the bridge carrying I-376 over Old William Penn Highway in Monroeville. The project will last until mid-July.

Old William Penn Highway will be closed Monday, March 31 between Evergreen Drive and Duff Road as work crews conduct demolition work on the Parkway East bridge that runs over the road.

Old William Penn will be closed from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. to accommodate the work.

East of the closure, a detour will route drivers onto Garden City Drive, where they will turn left on Laurel Drive and follow it back to Old William Penn Highway. West of the closure, drivers will follow the opposite route.

Above the road, a traffic crossover has taken place as well, between the Penn Hills and Monroeville exits.

The work is part of the $70.1 million I-376 Parkway East Betterment Project.

Work includes a superstructure replacement over Old William Penn Highway, two bridge rehabilitations over Old William Penn Highway/Lougeay Road/Sunset Drive and Thompson Run Road/Thompson Run/Union Railroad, and six bridge preservations along the Parkway East.

The work is expected to be completed in fall 2026.

To join an email distribution list for PennDOT emails related to the project, email stcowan@pa.gov and write “Subscribe - Parkway East” in the subject line.
