Penn Hills funeral home earns Pursuit of Excellence Award

Soxman Funeral Homes Ltd. is one of only 104 funeral homes from around the world honored with the 2023 National Funeral Directors Association Pursuit of Excellence Award, placing it among an elite group of funeral service professionals.
Pursuit of Excellence Award recipients are recognized for adhering to the highest ethical and professional standards and providing unsurpassed service to families and communities.
“We are so proud of our staff for the hard work, dedication and positivity that was displayed throughout this process,” Plum resident Anna Zvirman-Nesbit said on behalf of herself and Brian Soxman, co-owners of the funeral home in Penn Hills.
“All of us feel truly honored for the recognition that this award bestows on our firm and look forward to continuing our efforts to provide the best care to the families and communities we serve,” she said
To earn the award, a participating funeral home must meet or exceed business standards set forth by the program and demonstrate proficiency in key areas of funeral service, such as:
• Compliance with state and federal regulations
• Providing ongoing education and professional development opportunities for staff members
• Offering outstanding programs and resources to bereaved families
• Maintaining an active level of involvement within the community
• Participating and actively serving in the funeral service profession
• Promoting funeral home services through a variety of marketing, advertising and public relations programs.
Participants are also required to adhere to a Pledge of Ethical Practices.
