The Allegheny County Police Department announced late Saturday night that 12-year-old Alyee Hammonds had been found, unharmed, in Ohio.

The department thanked everyone for their help in finding the girl who was reported missing Friday morning.

The girl’s mother, Desmonique Raquel Hammonds, told Penn Hills police that her daughter ran away from home. According to police, Hammonds did not provide detailed information, and was wanted for fleeing authorities.

The Allegheny County Child Abduction Response Team got involved in the search Saturday afternoon.

According to Allegheny County officials, the girl’s mother fled from her home in a white 2022 Mercedes-Benz C240 sedan. Penn Hills police chased the Mercedes but lost sight of it on the Hulton Bridge in Harmar.

She was wanted for questioning in the disappearance of her daughter. Authorities in Newport, Ohio took Desmonique Hammonds into custody Saturday night. They also have custody of the Mercedes Benz that she was driving.

Alyee was believed to be at special risk of harm or injury. Anyone seeing her or having information on her whereabouts was asked to call 9-1-1 or contact police immediately.
