With October quickly waning, Penn Hills is preparing for its annual winter and holiday programs.
Below is a list of events slated for November and December being organized by Penn Hills Parks and Recreation:
Nov. 23: The 22nd Annual Holiday Craft Show will happen from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Linton Middle School, 250 Aster St. Admission is free and the show features more than 125 homemade crafts from area vendors.
Dec. 5: The Penn Hills Holiday Light Festival will happen from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Penn Hills Government Center, 102 Duff Road. Admission is free and the event features the lighting of holiday-themed decorations, time with Santa Claus and his elves and Rudolph. There will be refreshments and entertainment and all children receive a small gift. Call 412-342-1174 for more information.
Dec. 7: Breakfast with Santa is scheduled from 9 to 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 11609 Frankstown Road. Admission is free and the event will feature a pancake breakfast with Santa Claus, arts and crafts, letter writing to Santa, Christmas games, cookie decorating, music and more. Space is limited; call 412-798-2147 by Nov. 29 to register.
Dec. 2-20: Drop off letters to Santa Claus at the Penn Hills Government Center and the Penn Hills Library during this time period. Emailed letters can be sent to SantaClaus@PennHills.org. Participants are encouraged to include a name and address to receive a return letter from Mr. Claus.
Dec. 2-20: Penn Hills residents are encouraged to compete for best decorations. To compete, provide your address by calling 412-798-2147 or email JScaglione@PennHills.org. Judging is expected to take place from Dec. 16-20. Prizes will be given to first-, second- and third-place houses.
