Penn Hills Memorial Day parade has new end location

The Penn Hills Memorial Day Parade will step off this year just like any other, except for one change.
This year’s parade will be the first in decades to not culminate at the administrative building on Frankstown Road, which has been vacant since last summer.
Instead, marchers will turn right onto Duff Road and stomp their way to the newly constructed municipal center, where officials will host a ceremony and review stand.
The parade kicks off at St. Bartholomew Catholic Parish at 11:30 a.m. May 27 with the ceremony at the municipal center beginning at noon. The route proceeds east for about a mile before turning right onto Duff Road.
Parks director John Scaglione said the parade usually features around 40 groups including bands, floats, antiques collectors, local businesses, classic vehicle owners and sports organizations.
“It’s going to be pretty traditional, no real surprises,” Scaglione said.
He said there will be free hot dogs and drinks at the review stand until the parade begins.
Anyone who would like to sign up to participate in the parade can call the parks and recreation division at 412-798-2147.
