A man surrendered to Penn Hills police after an officer discharged his firearm early Tuesday while responding to a domestic violence call on Veronica Drive, Allegheny County Police said.
County police said Penn Hills officers went to a residence in the 100 block of Veronica Drive after receiving a call that a man had threatened to kill a woman there. After officers arrived, a man identified by county police as Justin Suprano, 51, answered a door at the residence while armed with a shotgun.
County police said that as Suprano began to raise the shotgun, a Penn Hills officer fired his gun and struck the front of the home and Suprano’s clothing. Suprano, who was unharmed, surrendered to officers, county police said.
Suprano will be charged with aggravated assault, making terroristic threats and possessing an instrument of crime, according to county police and online court records. Online court records did not list an attorney for Suprano.
