Heinz Field will be the site of a multi-day covid vaccine clinic sponsored by Giant Eagle.

Both phone and online appointments for Giant Eagle’s covid vaccination clinic at Heinz Field have been completely filled, a spokesman for the chain said Monday.

The multi-day clinic will take place this week, from Tuesday to Friday.

Online appointments became available last Friday, Feb. 26, through Giant Eagle’s scheduling tool. Those were booked within a matter of hours — consisting of around 4,000 appointments. A “limited number” of appointments were set aside to be made by phone, for people without internet or computer access, beginning Monday at noon.

Dick Roberts, the Giant Eagle spokesman, said those appointments were filled by 12:40 p.m., less than an hour later.

Roberts could not give specific about how many appointments were made via phone on Monday. He said on Friday that more appointments could be made available if more vaccine becomes available.

The clinic is only open to people who fall into Pennsylvania’s Phase 1A, which includes health care workers, people 65 and older and people aged 16 to 64 with certain chronic health conditions.

Those who schedule an appointment are asked to arrive 15 minutes early at the PNC Champions Club, with valid identification and any medical insurance information.

Masks are required.
