In brief: Chili cook-off, scholarships and more in Pine, Richland

Richland Township residents whose Vogel collection day is Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday will have leaf collections Oct. 21, Nov. 11 and Dec. 2. Residents whose Vogel collection day is Thursday or Friday will have leaf collections Oct. 23, Nov. 13 and Dec. 4.
All bags must be out before 6 a.m. on the day of pickup. All leaves, garden residue and cuttings must be in biodegradable paper bags weighing less than 40 pounds.
Tree trimmings must be smaller than 3 inches in diameter and shorter than 48 inches and be bound into manageable bundles.
New pastor
Bakerstown Alliance Church will officially welcome Pastor Jack Scheid. A formal installation ceremony will be 7 p.m. Oct. 8 at the church, with a reception to follow immediately. Pastor Scheid replaces the Rev. Dr. Christian Cuthbert, who relocated with his family to Connecticut. All are welcome to attend. The church is at 4030 Bakerstown Road in Gibsonia.
Scholarships earned
Robby Palmieri of Gibsonia, a graduate of Pine-Richland High School majoring in national security at Baldwin Wallace University in Ohio, has earned a $17,000 Dean’s Scholarship.
Cassie Foster of Wexford, a graduate of North Catholic High School, has also earned a $17,000 Dean’s Scholarship at the university.
Chili & Pie Cook-off
Hosanna Industries’ Third Annual Chili & Pie Cook-off will take place noon-2 p.m. Oct. 10 at the H.G. campus, 3930 Dickey Road in Gibsonia. This is a giving event. There is no fee required for registration, however, Hosanna Industries will be taking an offering during the event. Because of covid-19 safety measures, registration is limited.
