Memorial Day service
Richland American Legion Post 548 will hold a Memorial Day Service at 10 a.m. May 29 in Richland Township Park. The celebration will include a parade, ceremony and picnic. Additionally, all veterans are welcome to attend the Legion’s meetings at 7 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month. For more information, visit palpost548.org.
A fundraiser to benefit the American Legion Post 548 will be held at the Gibsonia Walmart and Gibsonia Shop`N Save on May 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Plant sale
The Ingomar Garden Club will hold its annual fundraising plant sale on May 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be perennials, annuals, hanging baskets, herbs and vegetables, plus a flea market at the corner of Ingomar Road and 9600 Perry Hwy., in front of the Commodore Perry Plaza and Bruster’s. All That Jazz
The Hampton Presbyterian Church Big Band is back in the swing of things and brings the sweet tunes through the decades. Dust off your dancing shoes and join us from 6:30-9:30 p.m. May 12. All are welcome.
Free swing dance lessons will be given by professional instructor Jared Clemens from 6:30-7:30 and live music will be from 7:30-9:30. Tickets are $10 each, kids 12 and under are free. Block party
North Hills Community Outreach will gather with hundreds of supporters from 1-4 p.m. May 13 to host the Eighth Annual Neighborhood Block Party. This family-focused event offers unlimited fun and activities for children including games, a kid’s auction, dunk tank, balloon artist, caricaturist, face painting, bounce house, delicious food from Wheelfish, and live music featuring The Variety Pack. Additionally, the event falls over Mother’s Day weekend, and NHCO will be celebrating moms by providing individual bouquets with the help of local florist Lilac & Fawn. The festivities will be hosted at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church under several large tents. All the funds raised from the event support the critical services provided by NHCO. Crisis Center North benefit
Foodies who care will gather again under the stars to support Crisis Center North’s at its signature fundraiser, Cocktails & Cuisine. The outdoor tasting event marks its 16th year from 6-10 p.m. May 12 at The Woodlands. Court TV’s Julie Grant, a member of CCN’s Paws for Empowerment Advisory Board, returns as event emcee. Pittsburgh jazz vocalist Lisa Bleil is joined by Benny Benack Jr. on horns and pianist John Burgh as the evening’s entertainment. Throughout the evening, guests graze and sip their way through the region’s best cocktails and cuisine from leading restaurateurs, spirit purveyors, and dessert creators. Writing Project
The University of Pittsburgh’s Western PA Writing Project will host its 10th annual Young Writers’ Institute. It will be held from 9 a.m.-noon the week of June 19-23 at the Sing Sing Sing Studio in Wexford. We look forward to writing with incoming fifth through eighth graders.
