Pine-Richland area student accolades for the week of May 16, 2023

Christopher Bissell, a 2019 Pine-Richland High School graduate, recently graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, magna cum laude with two bachelor degrees and a minor. He will be commissioning as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army on May 19 at Soldiers and Sailors Hall.

Brett Scheib received The American Institute of Chemists Award at the 2023 Mount Union Honors Convocation. The prize is awarded to an outstanding graduating senior who has the best record in chemistry or biochemistry.

Benjamin Huber graduated from Piedmont University on May 5.

On May 2, five Pine-Richland students earned second place at the 2023 High School Student International Marketing Competition held at the University of Pittsburgh: sophomore Ian Hurt and junors Jocelyn Curreri, Yuvraj Kaloya, Avyu Nagrath and Eunice Son. Student teams prepare marketing pitches that are presented to fellow competitors and a panel of judges from academic and business communities. Pine-Richland’s team has placed in the top three of this event every year since 2016. Pine-Richland’s Cultural Communications Alliance is sponsored by Kristin Hough and Dawn Herbst.

Cooper Lawton was recognized during The University of Alabama Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (URCA) Conference. Lawton received first place for a presentation entitled “How Should The University of Alabama Implement Community-Engaged Learning in its General Education Reform?” in the business category.
