Student achievements from the Pine-Richland area for the week of Aug. 15, 2023

Ryan Farbacher graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering and a commission as a U.S. Navy Ens. He is a graduate of Pine-Richland High School. At the academy, Farbacher was a member of the Catholic Midshipmen Club, the National Eagle Scout Association, and the Navel Academy Leadership Conference, where he served as vice chairman. He served as the 11th Company Commander during the Fall 2022 semester, responsible for leading approximately 150 midshipmen.
Meg Z. Patterson, a junior at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, made the dean’s list for the spring 2023 semester.
Elizabeth Stokes graduated in May from PennWest Edinboro (formerly Edinboro University) with a bachelor of science in strategic communications. Stokes also made the dean’s list for the spring 2023 semester.
Derek Bashe graduated in May from Washington University in St. Louis. He also made the dean’s list for the spring 2023 semester in the university’s McKelvey School of Engineering.
Amy Padia and Anna Shields received their white coats during Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine’s 15th annual White Coat Ceremony for the class of 2027 on Aug. 5 in Scranton.
