Pine-Richland High School senior Gianna Rotelli, a JROTC cadet, was recently selected to receive an Air Force J-100 Character-in-Leadership Scholarship. She is one of 100 cadets nationwide to receive the award.

The J-100 program provides recipients with four years of paid tuition at any college or university with an AFROTC detachment, $10,000 annually for university housing, an annual $675 book stipend and a monthly cadet stipend.

“I am extremely excited to receive this scholarship,” Rotelli said. “I’m not sure where my life is going to lead yet, but this scholarship gives me the opportunity to pursue my dreams and help others. Leadership and speaking have always been passions of mine so I’m excited to continue this in college.”

Rotelli is in her fourth year of AFJROTC at Pine-Richland. She has previously earned the 2022 JROTC Air Force Association Leadership Award (selected as one of 42 out of more than 125,000 cadets globally and only cadet from the state of Pennsylvania) and the JROTC Unit Leadership Award for outstanding leadership abilities and potential. She was the first JROTC cadet in school history to receive the distinguished cadet badge.

In addition to her JROTC commitments, Rotelli has volunteered more than 700 hours of community service, plays libero for the girls’ volleyball team and throws javelin with the track and field team. On National Signing Day in November, she committed to the University of Louisville to continue her track and field career.
