Girl Scouts Western PA

Girl Scouts Western PA is hosting an informational event at Northern Tier Library on Feb. 6 from 5:3-7 p.m.

This is a great opportunity for girls of all ages to explore their interest in joining the girl scout community. For pre-K girls, think about becoming a Daisy starting your Girl Scout journey from the ground up, while potentially forming friendships that last a lifetime!

Valentine’s Day craft bundle

Request a take-home bundle to discover a variety of Valentine’s Day crafts for kids. Kits will be placed in the library’s lobby on Feb. 10 for pickup. This craft kit is intended for children, and registration is required to account for supplies.

The Great Pine-Richland Bake-Off

Join us at the library 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Feb. 11 to decorate tasty treats with a Valentine’s Day flare. Create fun designs using frosting, fondants, sprinkles and more atop various sweets. Bakers with the best creation in each category will receive small gifts.

The program is for children ages 8 and up. Registration is required. This program requires costly materials, however we want all attendees to participate for free. To prevent no-shows (registering but not attending) the library is requesting a fee of $3 per attendee in order to complete registration. The registration fee will be reimbursed to all attendees on the day of the event. It can be paid with cash at the library’s front desk, or through PayPal.

Historic Structures of North Park

Explore the unique historic structures that are hidden in plain site with Park Ranger Deaglan McManus. Learn some interesting tidbits about North Park and find out where all these hidden gems are located at the library from 6-7 p.m. Feb. 21.

The program is intended for adults, but all ages are welcome to attend. Registration is required.

McManus has been a Park Ranger for Allegheny County since 2017. He specializes in educational programs offered to schools, libraries and community groups. Deaglan has a strong interest in the history of the parks, facilitating programs for diverse audiences, and improving the accessibility of public natural resources. Deaglan has a bachelor’s degree in community organizing and a master’s degree in public history.
