The Indiana University of Pennsylvania student-led IUP-TV Sports production of the 2021 IUP Football Coal Bowl won the award for Live Sporting Event for College/University Student Productions. Daniel Erb of Wexford was on the winning team. The son of Dennis and Denise Erb, and a 2021 graduate of Pine Richland High School, Erb is currently a sophomore communications media student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and has been on the Dean’s List. He served as a sideline reporter during the production on Oct. 23, 2021, at George P. Miller Stadium in Indiana, Pa.

Tyler Viljaste is a 2022-23 recipient of an Omicron Delta Kappa General Scholarship. Viljaste graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh in April 2022 with a bachelor of philosophy with a major in politics and philosophy and a bachelor of science in business administration with a major in finance. He was elected as the vice president and chief of cabinet of the Pitt Student Government Board. In addition, Viljaste was the equity officer for the Parliamentary Debate Team, a member of the Board of New Member Education in Phi Alpha Delta pre-law fraternity, and a member of the judicial committee of his fraternity, Bea Theta Pi. In addition, Viljaste worked as an intern with the Pittsburgh Commission on Human Relations for three years. In this role, he created, designed, and led a series of “Know Your Rights” customized train-the-trainer curriculum sessions for more than 200 community leaders spanning 12 unique community organizations. These sessions were designed to help individuals under a person’s rights against discrimination.

Viljaste has begun the first year of his Juris Doctorate studies at Georgetown University Law Center, where he will study civil rights and anti-discrimination law.
