The American Red Cross assisted two adults and five children with shelter Monday night after a fire destroyed their Bellevue home.

The Allegheny County Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the three-alarm blaze at 467 Orchard Ave.

Bellevue Fire Chief Randy Dailey said about 20 departments responded to the call around 3:40 p.m.

“We put out three alarms mostly for manpower,” he said. “During the day, we’re not sure who we’re getting, plus the cold weather.”

Dailey said they received a large response and had no issues with water or manpower fighting the fire. No injuries were reported.

Dailey could not say if the home was a total loss.

“The fire was pretty heavy on the first floor,” the chief said. “The second floor had a lot of smoke damage.”

The homeowner was working in a detached garage when a neighbor told him his home was on fire, the chief said.

It’s unclear what started the fire. Crews cleared the scene shortly after 8 p.m.
