Duquesne University pharmacy on Centre Avenue sold to UPMC

Duquesne University has sold its pharmacy to UPMC’s Rx Partners, Inc.
The pharmacy will continue to operate at the same location under the name “UPMC Community Pharmacies” and remain a community pharmacy, offering services to local residents as well as a teaching facility for Duquesne students and pharmacy residents.
The pharmacy was opened by Duquesne in 2010 on Centre Avenue in Pittsburgh’s Hill District. Neither UPMC nor Duquesne would say how much the pharmacy sold for.
“We know that the Centre Avenue location of the pharmacy provided invaluable services to our neighbors in the Hill District,” said Doug Bricker, dean of the Duquesne University School of Pharmacy. “We committed to this sale after ensuring UMPC can enhance service to the community while allowing access for Duquesne pharmacy students to that clinical environment.”
The pharmacy offers prescription services, chronic disease management, health-risk assessments, diabetes consultation, flu shots, immunizations, and medication reviews among other services.
