Ex-doctor’s office manager pleads guilty to illegal oxycodone distribution

A former office manager for a licensed physician pleaded guilty Friday in federal court for her role in illegal oxycodone distribution, health care fraud and money laundering.
The investigation that led to the prosecution of Marcia Ramsier Arthurs, 62, East Pittsburgh was conducted by the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office.
In connection with the guilty plea, the court was advised that from March 26, 2015, to June 22, 2018, Arthurs unlawfully obtained Social Security benefits after providing false information about her living and financial arrangements with her co-defendant.
Chief U.S. District Judge Mark R. Hornak scheduled sentencing for Sept. 9. Arthurs faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine.
Arthurs’ co-defendant, former physician Paul Hoover, pleaded guilty and was sentenced in October to 11 years in prison.
