A traffic camera near the Highland Park Bridge shows traffic backed up Friday, Nov. 15, 2019, on Route 28. A crash near the bridge stopped inbound traffic during the morning commute.

Traffic has resumed on Route 28 southbound, after a crash caused a standstill Friday morning.

PennDot confirmed on Twitter that the incident had cleared. There were still residual delays.

All lanes of traffic on Route 28 southbound were stopped around 8 a.m., after a crash involving five vehicles, state police said.

The crash occured near the Fox Chapel exit. Inbound traffic was at a standstill from the Highland Park Bridge back to Exit 10 at the RIDC Park. The southbound lanes were completely blocked by emergency vehicles. Police officers were at the Harmar exit advising drivers to slow down as they approached the backup.

Several vehicles were being towed from the scene. People caught in the traffic were out of the vehicles and standing on the roadway while they waited.

No injuries were reported.
