An Allegheny County jury deliberated less than one full day before convicting a Ross woman Monday in the hit-and-run death of a North Hills lawyer.
The jury found Melinda Gregor, 30, guilty of leaving the scene and failing to give aid in a vehicle crash involving death or injury – a second-degree felony.
Gregor was charged in late 2017 after she struck and killed 50-year-old Michael Menner.
Menner was crossing Babcock Boulevard near Shenanigan’s Bar shortly before 7 p.m. Dec. 17, 2017. He was taken to Allegheny General Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Witnesses told police they saw a white car hit Menner and throw him into the air, according to the criminal complaint. One witness said she thought she saw the vehicle — later determined to be driven by Gregor — turn into a nearby parking lot a short distance away.
Gregor was also found guilty of summary charges of careless driving, driving at unsafe speed and driving without a license.
Sentencing is scheduled for July 24 in front of Common Pleas Judge Beth Lazzara.
