Man sleeping in McKees Rocks dumpster tossed into garbage truck, loses prosthetic leg

A man sleeping in a dumpster in McKees Rocks early Thursday morning was tossed into the back of a garbage truck as trash was being emptied from the receptacle.
The incident occurred at about 2 a.m. along Munson Avenue, according to police.
While in the back of the garbage truck the man, whose name was not released, realized that his prosthetic lower leg was missing and searched for it for about half an hour before officers ordered him to stop, police said.
He did not appear to have any injuries but was taken to a hospital to be checked.
Authorities said they would continue searching for the missing prosthetic.
The garbage hauler told authorities that they will empty the receptacle separately when it is taken to a landfill to try to recover the leg.
