New clouded leopard cubs at Pittsburgh Zoo get names

The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium has given names to its new clouded leopard cubs.
Zoo officials announced Monday that the cubs were named Gale and Lynn.
The names were chosen by the daughter of a longtime zoo docent, Gail Noden.
“In honor of my mother, who loved the zoo and volunteered as a zoo docent for 40 years, I am thrilled at the opportunity to keep her zoo legacy alive through the cubs,” said Tamara Golden, Gail Noden’s daughter.
The two cubs were born in late November, the second litter of parents Saya and Pi. Zoo officials were concerned when, after cleaning her newborn cubs, Saya left the nesting box and did not return. The cubs were removed for their own safety and kept at the Animal Care Center for several weeks before being moved to The Islands area of the zoo.
Zoo officials said the 8-week-old cubs are healthy and growing. They love to wrestle and play with each other. The cubs were introduced to meat about a week ago.
Gale and Lynn are being held in their day room at The Islands. When the weather is warmer, zoo officials said, they will be introduced to the outside yard.
