Pedestrian struck in Pittsburgh hit-and-run on Jan. 23 dies of his injuries

A 75-year-old Pittsburgh man who was struck by a hit-and-run driver last month near the South Side Slopes has died of his injuries at UPMC Mercy Hospital, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.

John J. Kulinski died Friday of multiple injuries suffered Jan. 23 about 9:40 p.m. as he was crossing the 2200 block of Arlington Avenue, authorities said.

Pittsburgh police reported that Kulinski was struck by an inbound vehicle after he stepped into the street. The driver fled the scene.

He was taken by ambulance to the Uptown hospital in critical condition, officials reported.

Police were asking anyone with information about the incident, vehicle or its driver to contact investigators by calling 911.
