Pittsburgh ranked as 6th-best large college city, report says

With plenty of higher education choices, like the University of Pittsburgh, the city ranks among the best in the nation as college cities and towns.

Pittsburgh is ranked sixth among the top 10 large college cities in America by the personal-finance website WalletHub.

The website says it compared more than 400 U.S. cities based on “31 key indicators of academic, social and economic growth potential” for its report on the best college towns and cities.

The data set ranges from cost of living to quality of higher education to crime rate.

Austin was ranked number one followed by Tampa, Seattle, San Diego, and Las Vegas, in the top five. After Pittsburgh in sixth place, came Raleigh, N.C., Minneapolis, Atlanta, and Denver rounding out the top 10.

WalletHub ranked Orlando, Fla., as the best midsize college city and Ann Arbor, Mich., the best small college city.
