Police: Braddock woman arrested after knife attack aboard Port Authority bus
A Braddock woman was charged with aggravated assault after a knife attack aboard a Port Authority bus Saturday night, according to Pittsburgh police.
Police said that two women, including 22-year-old Octavia Howard, began fighting aboard a PAT bus at the intersection of South Braddock and Forbes avenues shortly after 7:30 p.m.
When a man aboard the bus attempted to intervene, Howard pulled a knife, according to Pittsburgh Police Assistant Public Information Officer Cara Cruz.
The male fled the bus and Zone 4 officers chased him on foot, apprehending him a few blocks away. Port Authority Police took custody of the man, but upon reviewing security footage, realized that Howard was the aggressor, Cruz said.
Howard was initially arrested when police learned she had an outstanding warrant, according to the city’s Department of Public Safety. After seeing the camera footage, she was charged with aggravated assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.
Unable to post bail, she was taken to the Allegheny County Jail, and faces a July 2 preliminary hearing at 12:30 p.m. before Judge Kim Berkeley Clark.
