Kenneth Burdick, 42, of West Mifflin, who police say confessed to killing his mother on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019.

A West Mifflin man was arrested Saturday after police say he killed his mother and then called police to report it.

Kenneth Burdick, 42, of Shady Lane, surrendered peacefully to police on the front porch of the home that he shared with his mother, authorities said.

Police said Burdick called West Mifflin’s 911 dispatching center shortly after 7 a.m. to summon police so he could surrender.

Burdick’s 80-year-old mother was found by police dead inside the home.

Allegheny County Police were called in and “learned that there is a history of domestic disturbance calls to the residence.” There were no active protection from abuse orders, according to county police.

Burdick is charged with criminal homicide and was taken to the Allegheny County Jail in Pittsburgh to await arraignment.
