Social media followers, police, lead to discovery of stolen PGH Halal Truck
A food truck specializing in halal foods was stolen from a West Mifflin parking lot overnight. But it was found relatively quickly thanks to its social media followers and local police, according to its Facebook page.
PGH Halal Truck, which offers gyros, pitas, salads, rice dishes, hummus and baklava, alerted the public to the stolen food truck on Sunday morning. According to a post on its Facebook page, the truck was stolen from a West Mifflin parking lot sometime late Saturday. Along with the post was a picture of the mostly lime-green truck.
“Hi everyone!!! Please SHARE!!! Our food truck was stolen … if anyone (has) seen it starting 11 p.m. on September 5 please let us know,” the post read. The post had been shared more than 560 times as of Sunday afternoon.

Less than two hours later, a new post on the Facebook page said the food truck had been found. It was located relatively close to where it had been stolen, though it was missing its keys.
“Huge thanks to our loyal social media followers! With the help of you guys and local police we received some relieving news. Our food truck was found out on the road, just 10 minutes away from its original location. There were no keys inside and the towing company was called to it,” the second post read. “God bless you all and thank you for your continued support of our small business!”

Attempts to reach the food truck for further comment on Sunday was unsuccessful. A phone message left for West Mifflin police Chief Kenneth Davies wasn’t returned Sunday.
