The Muslim community of Greater Pittsburgh will hold a prayer vigil Sunday for the victims of the March 15 shooting at the New Zealand mosques.

The vigil will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall, 4141 Fifth Ave., Pittsburgh.

Christian Associates of Southwest Pennsylvania encouraged Christians to reach out and show solidarity with Muslims through prayers, hospitality and financial support.

“Our hearts broke last week as we once again saw images of innocent people in Christchurch, New Zealand, who were killed as they prayed, just as in 2015 in Charleston and in October here in Pittsburgh,” CASP said in a statement.

The ecumenical group encouraged financial contributions through the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh or the Tree of Life Congregation.
