Work to fix a water main break on West Carson Street was finished Monday morning and the road has reopened to traffic, a PennDOT spokeswoman said.

The break in a 20-inch main was discovered around 7:15 p.m. Sunday. West Carson was closed near the West End Bridge as crews made repairs.

The break caused low or no water pressure in parts of the Crafton Heights, Elliott, Esplen, Ridgemont and Westwood neighborhoods, according to the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority.

The authority said the break was isolated and pressure was restored around 10:30 p.m. Sunday. As a precaution, the authority issued a boil water advisory for a limited area covering about 2,000 households.
