If you’re looking for a place to watch one of the biggest matches in U.S. Women’s Soccer history, head for Schenley Plaza in Oakland this Sunday.
The City of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy are hosting a free watch party Sunday morning in Schenley Plaza for the FIFA Women’s World Cup final between the United States and the Netherlands.
The broadcast will be shown on a large video screen in the plaza, which borders the Cathedral of Learning and the Carnegie Library. The championship game is scheduled for an 11 a.m. kickoff in Lyon, France.
The Parks Conservancy, Citiparks and the city’s Special Events Office will provide soccer-related activities. There will also be games and crafts, food trucks, face painting, noisemakers and American flags for fans of all ages.
The telecast of the U.S.-England semifinal on Tuesday averaged nearly 8 million U.S. viewers, making it the most-watched English-language soccer match in the country since last year’s men’s World Cup final.
