Pittsburgh man arrested in connection with Wilkinsburg killing
Allegheny County Police made an arrest Tuesday night in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred in Wilkinsburg this summer.
Police arrested Amir Johnson, 24 of Pittsburgh, in the city’s Lincoln-Lemington neighborhood on Tuesday evening, according to a press release.
Johnson is facing multiple charges to include homicide, robbery, and carrying a firearm without a license.
Police said on June 22, 2024, first responders found an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds on the 400 block of Ross Avenue in Wilkinsburg.
The victim, later identified as 26-year-old Desmond Lane, was pronounced deceased on scene, said police. The Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit was requested, and detectives initiated an investigation.
Through Allegheny County’s police investigation, detectives were able to identify the suspect as Johnson.
Johnson’s bail was denied and he is currently confined in the Allegheny County Jail pending preliminary arraignment.
