Oakland Portal project to prompt lane closures on Fifth Avenue in Pittsburgh

Work related to the Oakland Portal development project will result in lane closures along Fifth Avenue in Pittsburgh’s Oakland and Uptown neighborhoods, the city’s Department of Mobility and Infrastructure said Monday.
Work being done by Peoples Gas will obstruct one or two travel lanes on Fifth Avenue between Robinson Street and the Birmingham Bridge. Construction started Monday and will occur daily between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily until it is completed.
The Interstate 376 ramp will remain open, city officials said. Flaggers will be stationed on Fifth Avenue to allow outbound buses driving access into Oakland.
The project does not have a posted detour, but city officials recommended that motorists use an alternate route to the Boulevard of the Allies and I-376. The city suggested using Fifth Avenue to Craft Avenue to the Boulevard of the Allies.
