Toys for Tots collection

Verona Volunteer Fire Company is preparing for its third annual Christmas In July Toy Drive event benefiting the Allegheny Valley Marine Corps League 827 Toys For Tots.

The company will be collecting toys at the station from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 15 and 29, and from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 5, when a spaghetti dinner and open house also are scheduled.

Free Dentistry Day

Free dental services will be available on July 28 at Verona Dental Care.

Dr. Sumit Gupta, the team at Verona Dental Care and volunteer doctors from Gibsonia are participating in Free Dentistry Day, dedicated to providing for the growing number of Americans without dental insurance.

Cleanings, fillings and extractions will be provided to patients between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at 625 Allegheny River Blvd.. in Verona. Patients can call the office to schedule an appointment or be served on a first-come, first-served basis on Free Dentistry Day.

Plum Class of ’73 reunion

Plum High School Class of 1973 will hold its 50-year reunion starting at 4 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Lighthouse Marina, 799 Industrial Blvd., New Kensington.

Price is $30 per person. RSVP by Aug. 19.

New home for Oakmont TOPS

Oakmont TOPS #60, a support group to help those with a weight loss struggle, has been meeting every Tuesday since Feb. 25, 1964. Meetings now are held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1261 Pennsylvania Ave., Oakmont.

Sessions start with a private weigh-in between 5:45 and 6:10 p.m., followed by sharing and support. A brief business meeting precedes an educational program on the benefits of healthy eating and exercise.

Regency Park garage/yard sale

The seventh annual Regency Park neighborhood garage/yard sale is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 15. The rain date is July 22.

Last year, more than 40 homes participated. The neighborhood is located off Universal Road to the east and Saltsburg Road to the north in Plum.

Plum Class of ’63 reunion

Plum High School Class of 1963 will hold a reunion on Sept. 2 at John Anthony’s Restaurant, 115 Center New Texas Road, Plum.

The event begins at 4 p.m. and continues until a specified time. Attendees are requested to reserve their spots by July 15. The cost per person is $40.

Fiddlesticks concert

The Pittsburgh Symphony’s musical ambassador, Fiddlesticks, is coming to Penn Hills High School at 2:30 p.m. July 16.

While geared families with children ages 3 to 8, Fiddlesticks welcomes everyone to sing, dance and express themselves freely. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children. Seating is general admission.For more information or to purchase tickets, visit pittsburghsymphony.org.

VOPP public trail meeting

Friends of the Riverfront is assisting Verona, Oakmont, Plum and Penn Hills to develop a safe, accessible and sustainable multi-purpose trail stretching from the Allegheny River in Verona to Boyce Park in Plum. The design and engineering work is being conducted by TranSystems through December 2024.

A public meeting to provide information and updates on the trail will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. July 13 at the Penn Hills municipal building. For more information, visit pennhillspa.gov.
