Auction basket benefit continues
John Anthony’s Restaurant will host a fundraising event aimed at supporting two charitable causes, the Remember Me Rose Garden, a living tribute to the heroes of 9/11 Flight 93, and the Beach Dog Rescue of Costa Maya.
The event, featuring auction baskets, is scheduled to run through Aug. 25, with ticket draws taking place at 7 p.m. the final day. Supporters interested in participating can purchase tickets during regular business hours at John Anthony’s , 115 Center New Texas Road, Plum.
An appearance by the owner of Beach Dog Rescue is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 18. She will be accompanied by Ragnar, one of her Xolo (hairless ancient Aztec breed) dogs, offering an opportunity for meet and greets. On Aug. 19, members of the Remember Me Rose Garden will be present to help conclude the event.
Those wishing to contribute a completed raffle basket can do so before Aug. 9 by dropping it off at the restaurant.
‘Chalk the Walk’ in Plum
A “Chalk the Walk” event is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 21 at Plum Middle School and Highland Park Elementary School, weather permitting.
Community members can write encouraging and positive messages for students to see when they return to school.
The event is in collaboration with the Friends of Rachel groups at each of the schools. All parents and students are welcome. No entry will be allowed into the buildings.
Plum Class of ’73 reunion
Plum High School Class of 1973 will hold its 50-year reunion starting at 4 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Lighthouse Marina, 799 Industrial Blvd., New Kensington.
Price is $30 per person. RSVP by Aug. 19.

GOP summer dinner
The Plum Borough Republican Committee’s summer dinner is scheduled for 6 p.m. Aug. 25 at Palmieri’s Restaurant, 951 Old Frankstown Road.
The keynote speaker is state Rep. Tim O’Neal of Washington County, the House’s Republican whip. GOP candidates for state courts and Allegheny County executive will attend.

Benefit golf scramble
Plum Competitive Cheer is holding a “Scramble Fore Cheer” golf outing fundraiser on Sept. 23 at Rolling Fields Golf Course, 4138 Hankey Church Road, Murrysville.
Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. and the scramble at 1 p.m. Proceeds help the cheer team raise money toward the national competition in Florida. Sign up at form.jotform.com/231984922628164.
Cash Bash scheduled
Plum Competitive Cheer’s Cash Bash is scheduled for 5 p.m. Oct. 7 at Universal Banquet Hall, 2240 Main St., Penn Hills.
Tickets are $35 and include dinner, soft drinks and beer. Grand prize is $1,000. Call 724-859-9590 for more information.
