Victorian May Day celebration on tap
The Kerr Memorial Museum will host a Victorian May Day celebration from 1 to 4 p.m. May 18 to teach people about traditions of the Victorian Era.
Participants can make a floral crown, tour the Victorian garden and watch junior docents perform a Maypole Dance, among other activities.
There will be self-guided tours only, as no formal tours will be available. Character reenactments will be done throughout the day.
Tea, coffee and sweets will be available for purchase from The Tilted Iris Tea Truck.
Verona accessible dock opening
Verona Borough officials, Friends of the Riverfront and Steel City Rowing Club are inviting the public to the opening day of the Verona accessible dock on June 1.
Starting at 9 a.m., people are invited to 101 Arch St. in Verona for a day of free, outdoor activities including a guided meditation, a “guided paddle” and tour of Sycamore Island, a yoga session, and a fishing demonstration.
The day will also include a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Food will be available for purchase.

Plum Community Center seeking volunteers
The Plum Community Center is looking for people to donate their time as lunch servers in the center kitchen.
Hot lunches are served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. weekdays. Volunteers report at 10:30 a.m. to portion the side dishes and then serve lunch until 12:15 p.m.

Indoor yard sale scheduled
The Oakmont Methodist Church will host an indoor yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 17.

Group offers support for weight loss
All are welcome to join the men and women at Oakmont TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) who are learning how to lose weight.
With in-person meetings, rewards, support and encouragement, we gain knowledge of healthy eating and exercise.
You may visit with no obligation Tuesdays at 5:45 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1261 Pennsylvania Ave. in Oakmont. Weigh-in is private followed by a brief business meeting, sharing time, and educational program all ending by 7:15.

Food pantry offers help
The Plum Food Pantry, 81 Sandune Drive, distributes free food from 4:30 to 6 p.m. the first three Tuesdays of each month for Plum residents. Residents in need must stop in at the pantry to be certified/verified.
