Plum Republican meeting
The Plum Borough Republican Committee (PBRC) will meet at the basement banquet hall of Palmieri’s Restaurant on 951 Old Frankstown Road in Plum at 5 p.m. Aug. 19. The featured guest speaker will be Congressman Mike Kelly, who represents the 16th District of Pennsylvania.
This meeting is open to all registered Republicans and provides a forum to meet with candidates, discuss issues, exchange ideas and enjoy fellowship.

Plum Creek church rummage sale
The Presbyterian Church of Plum Creek is hosting its 59th annual rummage sale on Aug. 20 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Aug. 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Tents will be set up outdoors to accommodate selling of items such as gardening necessities, plant specimens, toys for all ages, holiday lights and arrangements, and baby clothing.
The big pavilion will have furniture, sports equipment, rugs, lamps, suitcases and other wonderful pieces to buy. A few rooms within the church will be open for specialty items such as men’s and women’s clothing, small appliances, pictures and frames, jewelry and housewares.
The community is welcome to participate.
Fellowship
Holy Family Ladies of Charity of Holy Family Parish are collecting school supplies throughout August.
Items needed include pencils, erasers, glue sticks, highlighters, scissors, small pencil sharpeners, crayons, colored pencils, dry erase markers, notebooks, binders, supply boxes or pouches, earbuds and backpacks.
Supplies will benefit Penn Hills, Plum, Riverview and Holy Family schools.

Road closure
Stotler Road will close between Ross Hollow Road and Old Leechburg Road in Plum starting at 9 a.m. on Aug. 23. The closure, which is expected to end in November, is required for replacement of Plum Creek Bridge No. 6, including new pavement, drainage, guide rail, and pavement markings.
The project also will require two short closures of Ross Hollow Road between Harris Road and Rustic Ridge Drive. The first Ross Hollow Road closure will occur from Aug. 27-30. The second Ross Hollow Road closure will occur near the end of the project. The public will be notified in advance of that closure via Twitter, Facebook and Allegheny Alerts.
When Stotler Road is closed, traffic will be detoured using Old Leechburg Road and Ross Hollow Road.

Residents on Stotler Road and Ross Hollow Road will have access to their homes at all times. The $607,777 project is being done by Pugliano Construction Co., Inc., of Pittsburgh.
Charity golf tournament
The Great Pyrenees Club of Western Pennsylvania will host its annual charity golf tournament Aug. 30.
It will take place at Edgewood Country Club, 100 Churchill Road in Churchill.
The cost is $195 per golfer, or $65 for dinner only. The full price includes golfing, golf cart, beer, snacks, water and soda on the course, a golfer “goodie bag,” event t-shirt, lunch before the tournament, dinner following the tournament, door prizes, skill contests, raffle drawings and a hole-in-one contest.

Plum’s Monday Market
The Monday Market is every Monday through Oct. 25 from 3 to 7 p.m. There is no market on Labor Day.
The Market is located at Plum Creek Park (Plum Baseball Fields), 1040 Ross Hollow Road.
