Bond vote
Plum council voted to authorize securing an estimated $7.6 million bond to bolster a new borough building project, stormwater management projects and repurpose the current municipal site.
The vote was 5-0 on July 12 to adopt the resolution with council president Dave Odom and vice president Dave Vento absent.
The borough may close on the deal in about three months.
Mayor recognition
Plum Mayor Harry Schlegel recognized the staff, police and volunteers who worked Summerfest, the three-day celebration at Larry Mills Park in late June.
Thousands of people from the borough and many communities participated in the festivities.
Organizers crafted a new layout giving C&L Shows of Mt. Pleasant more space for their rides and games while local community groups and food vendors had their booths at another side of the park.
Summerfest planning usually begins in January. Organizers coordinated everything in about month after state officials lifted some covid restrictions.
