Arrest made in fatal Mount Oliver shooting
Allegheny County homicide detectives have made an arrest in connection with a fatal shooting Saturday in Mount Oliver, which police say stemmed from a fight the day before.
Police were called to the 100 block of Amanda Street around 12:30 p.m. where they found Dana Burks, 49, who appeared to have been shot while in the doorway of his home, county police said. He was declared dead at the scene.
The day before, police had been at the home responding to a report of a violent domestic dispute between Burks and Rasheed T. Horne, 21, of Mount Oliver, who also lives at the house, according to a criminal complaint. The altercation left Horne with facial injuries which were treated at a local hospital. Burks was not at the house when the police arrived.
A little less than 24 hours later, Burks had been shot six times.
Ring doorbell camera footage obtained by police shows a man they recognized from the day before as Horne, entering the house before leaving and appearing to clear a malfunction with the gun he can be seen holding. He then re-approaches and fires six times before leaving the area, according to a sworn affidavit.
Horne was charged with criminal homicide and carrying a gun without a license. County police said he turned himself in early Sunday morning and was taken to the Allegheny County Jail to await arraignment.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 1-833-ALL-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.
