No injuries were reported in an early morning fire that damaged several row houses in Ambridge on Sunday.
The fire was reported at around 2:30 a.m. in the 500 block of Glenwood Avenue, according to Beaver County emergency dispatchers.
Emergency responders found heavy smoke pouring out of the two-story row of homes when they arrived on scene and went door-to-door to alert residents, who were able to escape safely, according to authorities.
A fourth alarm was sounded to summon additional units to the scene, emergency dispatchers reported.
Sixteen fire companies from surrounding communities responded to the blaze, which took about five hours to extinguish.
One of the structures partially collapsed and four others were heavily damaged, according to Ambridge Fire Chief Rob Gottschalk.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
The fire also caused a power outage in the area, according to authorities. Crews from Duquesne Light Co. responded to the scene and worked through the morning to restore electricity.
The American Red Cross responded to the scene and is providing assistance to 14 residents who were living in the five units that were damaged, according to the social service agency.
A gofundme.com page has been set up to assist a couple displaced by the fire. They have three children and a fourth on the way.
R&R Catering also is collecting donations at its restaurant on Pennsylvania Avenue in Monaca to assist one of the residents impacted by the fire.
Another family is seeking help locating their dog, who went missing while they were being evacuated.
Anyone who spots the dog, a black and white border collie named Mr. Pickles, is asked to contact the group Paw Boost. The dog has a red collar with black star shaped tag.
