The Ambridge Area School District announced Sunday that it was closing its Highland Elementary School to students and staff on Monday.

The district received confirmation that a staff member at Highland Elementary School in Harmony Township, Beaver County, tested positive for covid-19.

Starting Monday, all classes will be conducted virtually until further notice, said Joseph W. Pasquerilla, superintendent of the school district, in a Facebook post.

“Until we get direction from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, we will be closing Highland Elementary School for students and staff,” Pasquerilla said.

The school district is sanitizing rooms at the elementary school.

All other buildings in the Ambridge Area School District will remain open for students and staff on their hybrid schedules, he said.
