While organizers will skip the festival that usually accompanies it, the annual “Fireworks Over Fayette” display will take place on June 28.

Fayette Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Muriel Nuttall said chamber officials had concerns about going ahead with the event.

“Our show costs upwards of $10,000 each year and we knew that our business community had been hit hard through the pandemic,” Nuttall said. “We put out a request as usual and also opened donation opportunities to the community − we’ve been pleasantly surprised!”

In addition to support from community members, the event also is sponsored by 84 Lumber and Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and other chamber members.

Fireworks will kick off at 9:30 p.m. at Uniontown Mall. Parking at neighboring Mt. Macrina Manor will be prohibited this year.

“The Fourth of July is a critical celebration of our freedom,” Nuttall said. “Our community has experienced many unexpected and unprecedented challenges over the past couple of months that have significantly impacted people’s lives. It’s more important than ever to hold this traditional event for families to enjoy.”

The chamber is accepting donations to help offset the cost of the event. They can be mailed to 65 W. Main St., Uniontown, Pa., 15401. Online donations can be made at FayetteChamberStore.com.

The mall is located at 1616 Mall Run Road.
