Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh officials announced Monday that middle schoolers in St. Peter and Paul School in Beaver will learn all online this week as a result of a staff member testing positive for the coronavirus.

Officials said having sixth, seventh and eighth graders go virtual was out of an abundance of caution.

Families should expect to go back to in-person learning on Feb. 1.

The school continues to follow all local, state, and federal guidelines and health and safety protocols, according to Principal Cindy Baldrige.

“Even though we have been following all guidelines and cleaning repeatedly, we are unable to hide from this virus,” Baldrige said in a letter to parents. “To date we have not had a case of a student spreading the virus to another student in school.”
