Centre County man dies after collision on Route 22 near Blairsville

A Centre County man who was injured in a two-vehicle crash Thursday along Route 22 near Blairsville has died of his injuries, according to state police in Indiana County.

Troopers said the 38-year-old victim from Philipsburg was eastbound on the highway at 6:33 p.m. in Burrell Township when his vehicle collided with one driven by a 69-year-old from Blairsville.

Police said the Blairsville driver did not yield as he entered the highway from Indiana Avenue and drove into the path of the eastbound car. The Philipsburg driver was airlifted to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, Cambria County, where he died.

Police said the Blairsville driver suffered a minor injury.

Neither driver has been identified by authorities. Trooper Quinton O’Rourke said the collision remains under investigation.
