With commencements postponed, Class of ’20 becomes Class of Covid-19

Janet Rene Canady, 22, of New Kensington was scheduled to celebrate her degree in biomedical engineering at Pitt’s Oakland campus. Instead, she watched a virtual ceremony with her grandparents.

Kaylee Stinebiser, 22, of Youngwood is marching down a new trail even though concerns about covid-19 and social distancing guidelines forced officials at Pitt to postpone commencement ceremonies at all of the university’s campuses this weekend.

Kaylee Stinebiser, 22, of Youngwood, should have been marching down the aisle at Pitt Greensburg this weekend. Instead, the summa cum laude graduate will be home with her parents and grandparents, watching an online presenation that celebrates the Class of 2020 in the season of covid-19.

Jared Hoffman, 23, of Scenery Hill is graduating from Pitt Greensburg even though covid-19 fears forced officials to postpone commencement at all Pitt campuses this weekend.
