A 14-year-old Indiana County youth was charged with making terroristic threats and disorderly conduct Monday for allegedly posting a threatening message on social media that he planned to bring firearms to Marion Center Junior-Senior High School and target classmates, according to state police.
Police said the student, who attends the school, and his parents were questioned Monday after school officials reported to state police he posted the message Saturday to Snapchat.
Trooper Clifford Greenfield said another student reported the posts to school administrators when he arrived at school earlier Monday morning.
Greenfield said the threats were unfounded.
During the course of the investigation, police said the student and his parents were interviewed at the school and it was determined that he does not have access to weapons, Greenfield said.
Upon consultation with Indiana County District Attorney Patrick Dougherty, Greenfield said the student will be charged as a juvenile.
The student also will face discipline from the school district, authorities said.
