Flood advisory extended to include Allegheny, Westmoreland counties

Allegheny, Westmoreland and several surrounding counties have been placed under a flood advisory until 10 a.m. Friday.

Other affected counties are Armstrong, Beaver, Indiana and Washington.

Several roads around the region were affected by flooding issues, with closures Friday morning along Thompson Run Road between Rodi and McCulley roads in Monroeville/Wilkins Township; and Lime Hollow Road near Coal Hollow Road in Penn Hills.

Most of the rain has ended but the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh said streams continue to run high and minor flooding in poor drainage areas is likely.

Meteorologist Jenna Lake, with the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, said the region has received 1.1 inches of rain since Thursday.

Lake said no snow accumulation is expected Friday and weekend temperatures will remain in the mid-30s, with Sunday’s high temperature reaching the mid-40s.
