A warm-up throughout the Pittsburgh area will transition into frigid conditions with a chance of snow later this week.

Temperatures on Tuesday will reach highs in the upper 50s, warming up conditions across the region, but don’t expect that to last long.

Rain showers are reported to start Tuesday afternoon and continue through Wednesday morning, according to meteorologists at TribLive news partner WTAE.

Then starting Wednesday afternoon, conditions will turn as temperatures drop and some snow is expected.

WTAE reports that snowfall is expected to be mild on Wednesday.

Thursday will see the return of winter with force.

Frigid conditions and high winds will persist into Thursday, pushing wind chills into the single digits. Wind gusts could reach up to 30 mph on Thursday, reports WTAE.

Friday will see even colder temperatures, with lows reaching into the teens, according to the Pittsburgh office of the National Weather Service.

Temperatures will return to seasonable levels on the weekend, with highs reported in the 40s.
