Giant Eagle will hold in-person hiring events at all of its stores Tuesday to fill more than 1,000 permanent, full-time and part-time jobs in the Pittsburgh area.

Although the positions are permanent, a Giant Eagle statement said it needs the workers to help with the stores’ vital role in local communities and to help as holiday preparations begin.

During the hiring event, candidates will meet with store leaders and could receive a job offer the same day, according to Dick Roberts, Giant Eagle spokesman. It’s taking place from from noon to 6 p.m.

Candidates are asked to wear a mask or other face covering.

Positions are available for different shifts. They include personal shoppers for Giant Eagle’s curbside pickup and home delivery services, pharmacy technicians, deli and prepared foods clerks, cashiers, bakers, overnight stockers, meat cutters and more.

Benefits at Giant Eagle include flexible scheduling, what the company calls competitive wages, weekly pay, bonus plans, talent development programs, advancement opportunities, team member discounts and paid time off.

Candidates can explore open positions and submit applications in advance at GiantEagle.com/HiringDay. Walk-in candidates also are welcome.

Giant Eagle has more than 400 stores in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland and Indiana.
