Homer City man charged with raping child in Indiana County

A Homer City man is charged with rape of a child and more than a dozen related offenses in Indiana County.

David Gene Crawford, Jr., 46, was arraigned Friday on 10 felony counts and four misdemeanor counts after he was taken into custody by state police.

The charges in the case include: rape by forcible compulsion and threat of forcible compulsion; involuntary deviate sexual intercourse by forcible compulsion and threat of forcible compulsion; statutory sexual assault; indecent assault of and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a person less than 16 years old, according to court documents.

The state police Troop A Forensic Services Unit and other agencies assisted in the investigation of the alleged incidents dating back to 2020.

Crawford was placed in the Indiana County Jail after failing to post $250,000 bail set by District Judge Christopher S. Welch. He faces a June 13 preliminary hearing.
