Johnstown couple charged in death of man whose body was found in Indiana County
A Johnstown couple has been charged in connection with the shooting death of a man whose body was discovered July 14 along an Indiana County road.
State police have charged Justin Allen Green, 41, with homicide and robbery in the death of Daryl Vincent Lee Jr., 44, of Johnstown.
Green and his girlfriend, Brooke Ashley Pullin, 30, each are charged with abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, false identification to law enforcement and receiving stolen property.
Lee’s body was found shortly after 4:05 a.m. July 14 a short distance from Route 403 in East Wheatfield Township, Indiana County, near the Cambria County line, police said.
Police found personal effects near the body, and an autopsy and investigation by the Indiana County Coroner’s Office determined Lee died of a gunshot wound.
Trooper Cliff Greenfield, who serves as a public information officer for the Indiana station, said Thursday state police still were searching for the murder weapon.
He noted a multicolored hair was found near the victim’s collar, and Pullin has multicolored hair.
Troopers learned Green had been working on mowing jobs with Lee, who operated a lawn care and landscaping business in Johnstown.
Based on interviews, cellphone records and video surveillance, police believe Lee was shot about 4:45 p.m. July 13 along Franklin Street, south of Napoleon Street, in Johnstown and that his body later was transported to Indiana County and left in East Wheatfield.
Police released images of a Toyota Tundra truck they believe was used to transport the body. The truck also may have traveled to Maryland on July 13-14, Greenfield said.
It has blue- and gray-colored body panels, a white tailgate and was equipped with a winch, light bars and a black toolbox in the bed. It displayed Virginia license plate No. VJU4921.
Police would like to hear from anyone who recently saw the truck or captured it on surveillance video. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at the Indiana station at 724-357-1960.
Green and Pullin provided false names to troopers when they were interviewed, police said. Investigators believe they had been living in Johnstown for about a year with their 1-year-old child.
Cambria County Children and Youth Services took custody of the child after their arrests.
The couple is being held in the Cambria County Prison, Green without bail and Pullin on $150,000 bail.
They face preliminary hearings Aug. 2.
